La Trobe University is a multi-campus university in the state of Victoria in Australia, and has been one of Australia's pioneering academic institutions for more than forty years.
Named after Charles Joseph La Trobe, the first Lieutenant-Governor of the new colony Victoria, La Trobe University opened its first campus in 1967 in Melbourne as the third university in the state. Today a network of campuses is spread throughout Victoria in the cities of Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura, and Shepparton.
