From Tunghai University’s modest beginnings in 1955, the school adopted the ‘pioneering spirit’. When most Taiwanese universities’ sole emphasis was on specialization, we were the first to encourage a well-rounded general education. The University early on recognized the importance of holistic education emphasizing appreciation for the fine arts as well as developing competent graduates in their fields of expertise. The addition of a seventh college of Fine Arts and Creative Design continues and further expands the university’s horizon. Tunghai University has been one of Taiwan’s educational pioneers for the past five decades. The university has grown into seven Colleges (Agriculture, Arts, Engineering, Fine Arts & Creative Design, Management, Science, Social Sciences).
