Unicamp has three campuses (campi) – in Campinas, Piracicaba, and Limeira – with 21 centers of teaching and research. The University also has a vast hospital complex ( two large hospitals in Campinas, one in Sumaré and another in Hortolândia, cities neighboring Campinas); 23 interdisciplinary centers; two technical high schools; and a series of support units within a universe of about 50 thousand people. Since Unicamp was founded in 1966, it has greatly valued the presence of foreign students and professors in its academic community as a welcome sign of vitality, understanding that university experience and scientific knowledge in today's world are international realities.
