Education, Gender, and Transfeminist Activism in Mexico City | Summer / Short course | Humanities & Culture | Online/Distance | 6 weeks | UC Berkeley Summer Sessions | USA
The course will focus on several streams of critical education: critical pedagogy, popular education, feminist and queer pedagogy, anti-racist education, and direct action and activism through the lens of Transfeminist Cultural Production and Activism in Mexico City. This course offers students the opportunity to critically engage with issues, topics, and enactments of race, nationalism, gender, and sexuality as they intersect with education, social movements, and politics. One of the aims of this course is to advance understanding of transgender and non-binary issues outside the hegemony of the U.S., and in particular, to enter critical education insights into the transnational conversation about the status of trans and non-binary communities.
