However, more important is the multiplier effect of the energy sector in other industrial sectors and its overall impact on society.In particular, the industry related to renewable energy and energy efficiency is developing rapidly, due to growing concerns about the depletion of fossil fuels and the impact on the environment of classic power/heat generation technologies. These policies have been promoted in Europe by the EU initiative known as "20-20-20", which sets as an objective for 2020, to reduce CO2 emissions by 20%, reaching 20% of energy consumption from primary renewable energy sources and increasing in the same percentage the energy consumption efficiency.
