Mathematics and Economics | Bachelor's degree | Science | On Campus | 4 years | University of Dundee | United Kingdom
Scientific developments are possible due to mathematical applications while mathematical models inform decisions in industry, government, and within economics.
Our course combines both pure and application-driven mathematics. By the time you finish your degree, you will be able to use maths to solve practical problems. You'll explore the relationship between mathematical modelling and economics. You'll also examine how societies attempt to make the best use of their scarce resources.
Advising on investment, production and prices are decisions that people might associate with economists, but they are increasingly asked to advise on:
policies to address climate change
policies to address inequality
policies to improve the National Health Service
many other issues including; marriage, religion, civil war, football hooliganism
Our course focuses specifically on the macroeconomic challenges of national, regional and global economies together with the microeconomic behaviour of people and businesses. Combining these subjects will give you an excellent foundation for your career as an economist but also offers scope to pursue a diverse range of high-earning opportunities.
