The programme is designed to explore a range of texts, both literary and non-literary, from Scotland, Portugal, Brazil and Portuguese-speaking Africa. You will undertake rigorous and critical analysis of the production, reception and interpretation of works written in Scotland in English or Scots and in Portuguese, from medieval to contemporary. International culture flourishes at the University of Edinburgh, with a thriving Centre for Contemporary Latin American Studies, an annual Spanish film festival, an annual student-led Spanish play, and an annual Portuguese translation workshop, supported by the Instituto Camões Portuguese Language Centre.
