This degree will prepare you for a career as a registered midwife.The programme is evenly split between theory and practice, and you will be assessed in both. You will be supported and supervised by an innovative teaching team of experienced midwives.The programme includes shared learning between midwifery and nursing students in areas such as biological and social sciences, professional values, ethics, research and informatics.We have strong links with placement providers in a variety of settings, from women's homes to hospitals and community clinics. You will have the opportunity to care for women giving birth at home, in birth centres and on labour wards.You will gain the skills of an autonomous practitioner by working collaboratively with multi-professional and multidisciplinary teams in hospitals and in the local community.We will prepare you to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You will also acquire the skills needed to achieve the NMC Standards for Pre-registration Midwifery Education (2009).
