Arabic is a vital language for understanding societies in the Middle East and the Islamic world. If you've never studied the language before, this degree will allow you to learn the language from scratch while gaining an insight into Islamic thought, Arabic culture and Middle Eastern History. A combination of core and optional modules will give you a firm grounding in the language and Arab and Islamic History while you study the topics that suit your interests. If you have A level Russian or equivalent, this degree will improve and refine your language skills while exploring Russian culture, History and politics. You'll study core modules that introduce you to Russian culture and literature as well as improving your language skills. You'll also spend a year studying in Russia to develop your spoken and written Russian. But you'll also choose from optional modules to explore topics from Dostoevsky to the language of the Media.
