Russian A and Sociology | Bachelor's degree | Languages | On Campus | 4 years | University of Leeds | United Kingdom
If you have A-level Russian or equivalent, this degree will improve and refine your language skills, and introduce you to various aspects of Russian culture, History and politics. A combination of core and optional modules will give you a firm grounding in the Russian language and you'll be able to choose from a wide range of optional modules exploring topics that suit your interests in Russian History, culture and society. You'll also spend a year studying in Russia to develop your spoken and written Russian. But you'll also choose from optional modules to explore topics from Dostoevsky to the language of the Media. Sociology allows you to study the ways in which societies and institutions are structured and organised, as well as the effects they have on human behaviour. Core modules introduce you to key theories and approaches in Sociology and how they apply to today's society. You then develop this knowledge in optional modules allowing you to explore important and often controversial issues such as drug policy, crime, the sex trade, family dynamics, disability rights and protest movements.
