Established in 2000, the Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Environmental Engineering (OCIEE) combines the teaching and research strengths of the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Ottawa with that of the Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University. The Institute offers graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Environmental Engineering. The objective of this program is to prepare candidates for careers in teaching and/or in research, in a private or a public setting. Graduates will acquire autonomy in conducting research and in preparing scholarly publications. Members of the Institute are involved in four main research fields: water and waste processing or treatment; management of solid and hazardous waste; air pollution; water resources and groundwater management.
