Taught in a traditional Art School environment, this unique undergraduate programme has been specifically designed to develop expertise in textile design, craft and creativity. It focuses on developing independent and creative thinking and has been designed to be challenging both artistically and practically. Utilising weave, knit and embroidery as well as digital print and surface design techniques the course prepares you for the interdisciplinary nature of the creative design industry.
This course encourages students to explore a dynamic mix of materials and decoration for Surface Pattern and Textile applications. You will experiment with a diverse range of media and processes, taking an innovative approach to the design and production of surfaces and fabrics for interiors, fashion, products and gift-ware. The course has been designed with a clear focus on employability. We actively support each student's individual development through live projects with design businesses, international design competitions and professional development tuition. Activities such as study trips to professional trade fairs and studios, overseas study and graduate placements provide our graduates with real commercial skills and future employment opportunities.
Over the duration of the course, you will utilise a combination of creative intuition and acquired technical skills, using programmes such as CAD, to fully execute your creativity in a professional outlet.
