International Development & Global Politics (BA) | Bachelor's degree | Humanities & Culture | On Campus | 3 years | University of Wales Trinity Saint David | United Kingdom
This degree program gives each student a comprehensive understanding, knowledge and, crucially, the skills, to face the major global challenges of the 21st century.
Students will learn and develop their skills and knowledge across the disciplines:
The International Development component tackles the overarching question: how has it come about that there are very rich and very poor nations, with massive inequalities in life chances for their citizens? And what can be done to remedy this? It also studies post-colonial societies and cultural psychology, as well as patterns, connections and inequalities in global health.
The Global Politics aspect of the degree program complements and reinforces the practical work and the study of international development. There is a focus on International Political Economy, Human Rights and Ethics, with consideration of the challenges posed by environmental change, conflict and war, the role of information networks and organisations such as the United Nations. International migration, trafficking and terrorism are also considered.
