The college is offering six-week Carpentry Apprenticeship training programs throughout the year. Classes for years 1-4 are planned. Students are given training in a realistic shop setting. Emphasis is placed on the development of solid practical knowledge and skills to continue in a career in the construction industry. This program is taught through regular lectures, demonstrations and practical hands-on training. This 7 week program follows Year One of the British Columbia Carpentry Apprenticeship curriculum. Students work on a variety of practical projects and are given instruction on tools and safety. In addition, students and workers are provided access to a variety of learning supports to assist them in the development of computer, math, writing and communication skills.
