In the rapidly changing art and design landscape, Illustration is a keyform of visual communication. Illustrators need the ability to thinkcritically and innovatively, and must have the versatility and thedexterity to engage diverse audiences in a variety of contexts. Ourillustration courses explore varied technical approaches and a broadrange of pictorial strategies, while cultivating the ability tocollaborate and adapt to diverse opportunities, from contemporary artexhibitions to careers in mass-Media. Our program views all forms of illustration, from editorial tonarrative, as opportunities for cultural inquiry. The position ofIllustration within the Audain Faculty of Art underscores the potential of the practice to challengeprevailing conventions, ethics and expectations. By firmly situatingillustration practice in contemporary art culture, students areencouraged to question rather than follow, and to seek out newpossibilities in the professional field.
