Smart cities, smart mobility, smart phones, smart watches… sensor technology is everywhere! The Sensor Technology programme focuses on the use of existing (smart) sensors and their various applications. You will learn how to make the world smarter and safer by using sensors. Just think of the important role that sensors play in domains like healthcare, high-tech systems or energy. Joining our programme means that you will become a skilled professional with a high amount of technical expertise and a thorough understanding of ICT and Electronics. It’s no coincidence, that our innovative programme has been ranked ‘Top Rated Programme’ in the Netherlands for 7 consecutive years (2013-2019).
Sensor Technology is a four year programme that consists of an introductory year, followed by a three-year main phase. Besides theoretical classes, the curriculum includes a wide range of practical labs. You will also work together in small project groups, designing working prototypes and improving existing appliances, products and services in the fields of healthcare, energy, leisure, high tech systems and robotics. You can choose from a wide variety of sensors on the market and implement these into your project designs. Practical instructors will be at hand on a daily basis to support your creative ideas. In addition, you are free to work independently in our electronics/ICT labs, where you can use state-of-the-art equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, PCB milling machines and DNA analysers. Demonstrating your prototypes and presenting the design and building process are crucial parts of accomplishing each semester.
