The accounting program at Harper College offers day, evening and online courses for students preparing for a career in accounting or bookkeeping in business, industry or government. Through the Associate in Arts program, students can prepare to transfer to an accounting program at a four-year university. Courses are taught by respected, professionally qualified faculty. All Harper CPA Preparation Certificate courses meet the Illinois Board of Examiners CPA exam requirements. The curriculum includes the study of accounting theory and practice, corporation accounting, and cost accounting. Required business course work provides for an overview of the corporate community and includes economics, business law and management classes. Computer information skills are essential to today’s accountants and are also required in this degree.
