In our English-language Master program at IPU, a unique, multi-layered study course that prepares you for an equally diverse professional life and career is waiting for you. The study course's clinical perspective, which focuses on psychodynamic psychoanalytical approaches, provides solid education and training in research methods, and is supplemented on a fundamental level with in-depth knowledge from non-clinical applications of Psychological and psychoanalytical thinking. While its curriculum is based on the recommendations of the German Psychological Society (DGPs), this program also focuses on learning to apply fundamental diagnostic, counselling and therapeutic competencies. Furthermore, the study of empirical and statistical methods includes essential techniques for recording and mapping the processes and results of psychoanalytical treatment. Ultimately, the course's psychoanalytical direction is reflected in the emphasis on psychoanalysis not only as a psychotherapeutic method, but as a cultural theory and applied science as well. Furthermore, the conveying of empirical and statistical methods is intended to also include those ones which are especially suited to record and map the processes, as well as the results, of any psychoanalytical treatment. Ultimately, the course's psychoanalytical direction is also reflected in the fact that you not only become familiar with psychoanalysis as a psychotherapeutic method but also as a cultural theory and applied social science.
