The course includes an interdisciplinary component by taking advantage of the integration in advanced training areas developed at ISCTE-IUL, and takes place in close liaison with the lines of scientific research carried out at the Centre for Studies in Contemporary History (CEHC), which is a R&D unit, evaluated and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. This advanced training course in Modern and Contemporary History is structured as follows: one year specially dedicated to teaching component, followed by two years for the preparation of the doctoral thesis, with a follow-up seminar and tutorial guidance. The course integrates three areas of specialisation, jointly with a seminar of specialisation, covering the area of the thesis. This PhD is intended to provide further knowledge and development of research methods in modern and contemporary History.The three specialisation areas are:1. Politics, Culture, Citizenship;2. Defense, International Relations;3. Society, Economics, Technology.
