The program emphasises civil society and current issues in the field of peace and conflict studies, such as social movements, non-violence, enemy images and the Media. During the program, you will learn to understand and analyse how different forms of armed conflict begin and develop over time. In addition, you will learn about the conditions under which sustainable global peace might emerge. You will gain a theoretical and historical overview of the foundations of peace and conflict and learn how to apply the field's central analytical concepts. Moreover, you will gain knowledge about the role of the Media and globalization in the emergence and unfolding of contemporary conflicts.
