This course focuses on the design for printed and constructed textiles across a range of applications from fashion design, interior and soft furnishings, stationery and gift wrap and accessories. The emphasis is on creative design using traditional techniques as well as digital processes. You will gain the technical know-how and professional expertise to work on challenging projects and live industry briefs and understand the importance of textile technology. This will lead to the development of exciting and innovative design ideas for the specialist area of your choice. As part of our Work-ready guarantee, a number of employers currently support this course including Liberty, Prey UK, Kate Usher and Dr. Martens. Whilst studying you will gain a wealth of industry experience through industry live briefs and work placements. You will work with a range of specialist practitioners within the sector. Opportunities also exist to exhibit your work to representatives from industry in your second year. Career paths range from digital surface designer, textile designer, textile artist, interior surface designer, stationery and gift-wrap designer, fashion print, scarf and accessories designer. Academic progression is available through our one-year BA (Hons) Creative Enterprise (Top-Up) degree.
