The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer Degree is designed to give students a foundational understanding of art history. The primary focus is to prepare students for transfer into a four-year art history programs at the California State University (CSU) system and the University of California (UC) system. Students will learn fundamental art and art historical terminology; an appreciation of the creative process; and how to analyze works of art in order to articulate the historical, social and aesthetic functions of art across cultures and geographic boundaries. Students who wish to transfer to UC must have completed IGETC - AREA 6. This can be done with 2 years of high school foreign language or college level foreign language course with a letter grade of “C” or better.
