The programme aims to provide a solid grounding in Modern Standard andClassical Arabic, conversational ability in colloquial Arabic, familiarity with the major genres of literary expression, both classical and modern, and a broad knowledge of History, culture and religion in the Arabic world. Language instruction is highly intensive and students spend the third year of their studies at a university in the Middle East.
