Southern Utah University's Department of Teacher Education & Family Development offers students the opportunity to major in elementary education or secondary education. The goals of the education department are to develop educators who are academically competent, experienced, prepared, understand the need for both art and science in education and have effective classroom management. Partnerships with Iron County School District, Art Works for Kids, the Utah Arts Council, U.S. Forest and Park Service, SUU Outdoor initiative, Southwest Education Development Center K-16 Regional Alliance, and many others provide our students with opportunities to be involved in internships, work opportunities, hands-on learning experience, and professional development growth.
