The Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute (MMSI) was named after N A Semashko and opened in 1922 as a State Institute of Dentistry. Today, the MMSI is the country's leading institution training and upgrading dentists and investigating scientific problems in dentistry. The Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute is one of the major higher medical training centers It has two faculties 85 chairs and courses employing over 3 000 people There are 1 269 professors and lecturers among them 126 Doctors and 729 Candidates of Sciences Over 7 000 students 350 interns and 200 post graduates (full time and extramural) study at the Institute Every year 600 doctors 50 lecturers and 200 dental mechanics upgrade their skills here Clinical training takes place in two biggest Moscow stomatological complexes and 20 clinical hospitals. The Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute has six academic buildings with numerous amount classrooms lecture halls and up to date technical facilities The Institute library has the required stocks of educational and scientific literature The Institute comprises a full time and part time stomatological faculty with a department of children’s dentistry a full time and part time faculty of therapy a faculty of teachers advanced training and doctors skills upgrading faculty. The institute runs paid preparatory courses for institute entrance.
